Robert Norris Dipl.
Eng., B.Sc.
President
Robert brings to StraTerra 25 years of
knowledge and experience in software engineering, research and
development management, technical consulting and product
management. Building on senior roles at Alcatel, Newbridge
Networks, CrossKeys Systems, the PSC Group and Amdahl
Communications, Robert founded StraTerra to provide geoscientists
with software tools that assist their critical decision making. As
former Director of Product Management in Alcatel’s largest
software business unit and Product Architect at CrossKeys Systems,
Robert uniquely understands complex systems, the importance of
customer needs driving development and timely product support. He
holds a diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from Ryerson
University and B.Sc. in Computer Science from York University.
John Lake B.Sc., M.Sc.
Geological Science Advisor
John has 25 years of petroleum geology
exploration experience. He has been a geologist for Mobil Oil
Canada and Saskoil. He currently consults on the geology of the
Bakken in Saskatchewan and the Northern US, and provides core
analysis and training sevices. He has deep knowledge of the
technical and scientific aspects of petroleum geology. John has
worked both offshore and the central basin in Alberta and
Saskatchewan. He has presented numerous core workshops at both the
Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists (CSPG) conferences in
Calgary and the Williston Basin Petroleum conferences. His 2012
CSPG core workshop “Entrenched Channels within the Frobisher Beds
of Southeast Saskatchewan: Tidal Influence on Reservoir Quality”,
presented with Dr. Don Kent, won an honourable mention. John holds
a B.Sc. in Earth Sciences from the University of Waterloo and
M.Sc. from McGill University in Geology, Earth and Planetary
Sciences.
Rick McCulloch B.Sc.,
P.Geo. Solutions Consulting
For more than 25 years, Rick has been a
petroleum geologist for oil and gas resource companies, including
five years designing and implementing geological 2D and 3D
modeling applications. He has directed complex geological
investigations, including more than a decade evaluating
hydrocarbon deposits, providing geological support on more than
thirty conventional hydrocarbon reservoirs and evaluating the
McMurray oil sands resources. Rick has created reservoir models
for diverse clients and projects, including coal bed methane, and
light and heavy oil. Past positions include Geologist, R and D
Team Lead for United Oil & Gas Consulting Ltd., Geological
Programmer for Rockware Inc., Petroleum Industry Services
Programmer for Harbinger Explorations Inc., and Oil Sands
Geologist for Terracon Geotechnique Ltd.. Rick is a member of the
Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and
Geophysicists of Alberta; American Association of Professional
Geologists; and the Canadian Association of Petroleum Geologists
Dr. Don Kent Ph.D.,
P.Eng., P.Geo.
Geological Science Advisor
Don is adjunct and emeritus professor in the
Department of Geology, University of Regina. His research
interests have long been the geology of carbonate hydrocarbon
reservoir rocks and he advises StraTerra on the technical and
scientific aspects of petroleum geology. Don was chair of the
Canadian Geosciences Standards Board and was president of the
Saskatchewan Geological Society in 1965, 1969, 1979, and 2001. He
was a petroleum research geologist with the Saskatchewan
provincial government and now provides consulting services,
including core analysis and training. Don has contributed numerous
core workshops at the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists
conference in Calgary and the Williston Basin Petroleum
conference. His 2012 CSPG core workshop, presented with John Lake,
won an honourable mention. He holds a B.Sc. in Geological
Engineering, M.Sc. in Geology from the University of Saskatchewan
and Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Alberta.
Howard Rosenblum B.Sc.,
M.A.Sc.
Development and Customer Support
Howard is a software engineer with more than
20 years experience in medical, military and telecommunications
software research and development. He specializes in all aspects
of system development life cycle, including documenting and
presenting products, and managing customer support facilities.
Employers have included Siemens, Newbridge Networks, Enghouse,
Department of National Defense (Canada) and Health Canada. Howard
has Fortune 500 customer support experience and has provided
project management tool configuration and training support for
projects with budgets over $1B. He holds a B.Sc. in Math and
Computer Science from McGill University and a M.A.Sc. in
Technology Innovation Management from Carleton University.
